ABL provided project management, process design, commissioning and operator training for the collection system and a 40,000 GPD sequencing batch reactor (SBR) for the community of Avonport in Nova Scotia.

The collection system included several pump stations and a highway crossing. The facility is totally enclosed to minimize the aesthetic impact on adjacent residences. The plant includes a large effluent retention tank so that discharges of treated effluent are made during high tides only. This arrangement allows the outfall to be located in a tidal stream rather than extending the outfall to the low tide zone.
