The Municipality of Colchester County issued a public tender which resulted in a design build project for replacement of the existing extended aeration activated sludge plant with an ABL-SBR. In conjunction with Three "C" Contractors Limited, a 350,000 USgpd (1,300 m³/d) wastewater treatment plant was constructed and commissioned in April 2003.

Due to the environmental sensitivity of the receiving watercourse, the treatment plant is required to meet strict regulatory requirements of 5/5 mg/L BOD and TSS during low flow periods. The location, adjacent to a golf course and in close proximity to local residents, also required special attention to aesthetics.

The Brookfield plant is currently processing wastewater with minimal operator attention. The entire process is accessible remotely by computer at any time of the day or night. Total project value: $1.5 million.
