A hydraulically overloaded package plant serving the high school was in need of replacement. ABL was retained to design and conduct contract administration and project inspection for a 10,000 USgpd Recirculating Sand Filter wastewater treatment system including a small process building to house the ultraviolet disinfection equipment and control systems. The wastewater treatment system is located near an environmentally sensitive area which required that all effluent be disposed of on the site. As a result, the design also included a wetland and effluent pond to allow native plants and algae to further polish the treated effluent as it percolates through the sand at the bottom of the pond into the soil below.

The system was commissioned in September 2003 and has been operating with little operator attention while maintaining very high quality effluent.
