A paper mill located in Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia, required a new landfill to dispose of
40,000 tons per year of bark and sludge from their new wastewater treatment plant. An
abandoned disposal site nearby was investigated and determined to be adequate for
redevelopment. C.J. MacLellan and Associates of Antigonish together with ABL provided the
engineering design for a three-phase operating plan, and construction administration services to
redevelop the site. The leachate collection system was designed using computer models and the
site material was reused to form leachate drainage layers. |
